The best solution for most customers is to install the a voicemail system, which is provided by the same manufacturer as their telephone system. The cost is typically lower and the integration between the two systems is tighter. The Siemens, Nortel and Norstar systems use digitally integrated external voicemail systems. With the Lucent/Avaya product lines the voicemail card slides directly inside the telephone system cabinet to simplify installation and maintenance.
